St Joseph's Rotherhithe

Welcome to St Joseph’s!

I am delighted to welcome you to our school website: I hope it will give you a flavour of our fabulous school.  We are a popular school in the heart of the Rotherhithe and Bermondsey where every day we have the pleasure of welcoming in our children from Nursery to Year 6. We are extremely proud of our school, our wonderful children and our school community.

As a Catholic school, our ethos permeates all that we do. Through our strong links to St Peter and the Guardian Angels Church, we work together to give all the children in our care the best possible chance at achieving their potential with the guidance of the Gospel teachings of Jesus. Each day we continue to live out our school values of LoveKindness and Respect: ‘The St. Joseph’s Way’

St. Joseph's is a school where children’s rights and a Rights Respecting ethos is at the heart is all that we do. We are very proud to be a Rights Respecting Silver: Rights Aware school, an award given to schools on behalf of Unicef UK. We are working towards our Gold award.  The children have already learned about their rights through Worship and learning in class and are becoming very confident when talking about their rights. We are very passionate in St. Joseph's about giving our children a voice.

We aim to provide your child with the experiences, knowledge and skills to inspire them to become successful life-long learners.  Our children truly are the heart of our school and we want them to be the best that they can be. This is underpinned by our Vision, ‘No child is left behind’ and our Mission Statement Motto: 'We Grow and Learn together in the Footsteps of Jesus'. We strive to ensure the needs of all our children are met and that they are given a wealth of experience and opportunities for enrichment. We seek to ensure that our broad and diverse curriculum celebrates our school community and is one which values and develops the whole child.

We hope that your child will benefit in every way from the education they receive here in St Joseph’s and we encourage you to come and get to know us, so that we can work together for the best interests of your child. We actively encourage parents, as first educators, to become involved in their children’s education. Working together as a school family, we can ensure that children are happy, safe and successful at school.

We are a happy school and one that always welcomes support from our community: one we proudly call our St Joseph’s family. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit our fabulous school, or would like to know more, please do get in touch.

Best wishes,

Mrs Catherine McLoughlin
