St Joseph's Rotherhithe

15th January 2016 -  cold weather

 Dear Parents/Carers,

It appears winter is upon us.

In the case of heavy snow please do not ring the school before 8.15am to find out if we are open. This is because we need to keep the phone lines open for staff. They need to ring in to inform us if they are able to get to the school as public transport may be affected. (Unfortunately, we have a very poor mobile signal at the school). Also, senior staff need time to assess the safety of the entrance routes to the school.

We will endeavour to text you and put a message on our website about the situation as soon as we are able.

We will of course do our best to keep the school open. We have actually only closed  once in eleven and a half  years.

On no account should parents at any time leave their children unaccompanied outside the school gates assuming the school will be open. This would put your child at serious risk.

With kind regards,

Mr C.Wilcocks
