Nursery Farm Trip

The nursery children enjoyed a wonderful visit to the local Surrey Docks Farm. We saw baby animals which reminded us of all the growth we see around spring time. We were able to feed some of the animals too. Thank you to the parents who helped out. It was great for the children to be able to see these animals close up in our local area.

Year 5 are learning to be cryptographers this term in ICT! The students will be exploring different codes throughout the ages, from semaphore to modern password encryption. After studying the history of Morse as a binary code children were split into groups to try to send/decode messages from allies on the far side of the classroom.

Christmas Dinner

The whole school enjoyed having christmas dinner with their handmade hats on. The children loved the different toys and jokes they received in the christmas crackers and singing along to christmas songs!

This year the St Joseph's community came together for the christmas fair to raise money for the school. It was a huge success with different activities run by both the parents and staff!

The Year 4 Choir had the chance to sing Christmas Carols in front of the Globe Theatre to raise awareness for the Met Police appeal to raise money for children in care to have Christmas presents.

Florence Nightingale Museum

After learning about the Crimean War Year 1 visited the Florence Nightingale Museum where they learnt about Florence Nightingale's life and how she became known as 'The Lady with the Lamp'. Some children even got the chance to act out the moment Florence Nightingale decided to tell her parents she was leaving to be a nurse. They also learnt how to dress as a nurse and soldier in the Crimean War.

Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Unicorn theatre watching a performance of the hit musical 'Baddies'. They left with lots of ideas to inspire their writing!

Reception and Nursery's Church Visit

Nursery and Reception classes visited St. Peter and the Guardian Angels Church in Rotherhithe. They met Fr. Graham and he showed them the statues around the church. The children enjoyed learning about the different coloured robes a priest wears to say mass and they saw the chalice used during communion.
