Sports Day 2018
Monday 16th July saw the annual Sports day here at St Joseph's.
The KS1 sports day saw our younger children compete in a variety of events on the astroturf. Hurdles, a sprint and a balancing beanbag race was completed by all involved. Four teams- the red, green, blue and yellow- all had participants from reception through to Year 2. Every child took part and tried their best! The day was won by the blue team- a massive congratulations to them! The events were finished by a hotly contested mum's and dad's race.
The KS2 sports day was held on the field in Southwark Park! With glorious weather, we were treated to a feast of athletics from our talented older children here at St Joseph’s. We began with the girls’ and boys’ sprints, with the top 3 from each year group going into the overall final. Stand out performances in the heats were from Michael in Year 6 and Fabian in Year 5, as well as an explosive display of sprinting from Benedicta in Year 6. We then moved onto the carousel of field events, with particularly impressive performances in the high jump and relays. The morning’s proceedings were capped off with stellar performances from all parents and teachers involved in the parent/teacher races.
The overall standings are as follows:
Girls' sprint winner: Benedicta (Y6)
Boys' sprint winner: Julius (Y6)
