Year 3 Unicorn Theatre Trip

This Spring Term the Year 3 Mandela Class has been reading a Novel called the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. On Tuesday 31st January 2017 we travelled via bus to The Unicorn Theatre, located right next to the amazing Tower Bridge. We arrived early and had the chance to walk down to the river Thames. We stopped outside the HMAS Belfast, discussing how the historic warship can be used to discover what life was like on board for the crew at war and at sea from WW2 to 1963. We saw the tower of London, where both the Crown Jewels and Beefeaters live. Finally, it was time to make our way to the theatre. When we arrived we realised we weren’t the only school going to watch the play! We were ushered to our seats and shortly afterwards the performance begun. The play uses paper-cut silhouettes, puppetry and stop-motion animation to recreate the world of The Iron Man so vividly that the children thought they were there! Once it was over we caught the bus back to school, just in time for 3:15pm.
Thank you to all the adults who helped make the day such an exciting experience.
