Year 5 National Gallery Trip!
Year 5 went on an exciting trip to the National Gallery to learn about still life art! Our guide, Richard, told us that the paintings in the National Gallery actually all belong to the citizens of Britain. Us!
We first looked at a few paintings in great detail, using all our vocabulary and senses to describe what was happening.
We learned that still life was sometimes used to leave clues about characters in paintings, such as the ones hidden in the ‘Dream of St Joseph’. Afterwards we gave sketching some of these famous paintings a go, trying to use what we learned.
