FREE cricket CLUB in Southwark Park

Dear parents and carers,

Click the link below to find details of an opportunity for your child (ages 5-12) to participate in a free cricket club in Southwark Park over the summer.

Please note the school has no involvement in this club.  It is a local offer we have been made aware of that we are passing on for your information.

And some background information we received...

Southwark Park Cricket Club was established in 2014 to bring cricket back to Southwark Park. The Club is run by and for local people and we are working with the Council, Surrey CCC and the England & Wales Cricket Board to build a regional cricket hub.

I am delighted to say that this summer we are running two after-school cricket programmes for local children. We will have All Stars for 5-8 years and the Kids Cricket Programme for 9-12 years.   The All Stars is organised by the Surrey Cricket Foundation who are covering all costs so sessions are free for all. The Kids Cricket programme has been sponsored by Team London Bridge and is also free for all girls and boys. Sessions will be every Wednesday in the second half of the summer term.

Even more exciting is that the children will be invited to provide the Guard of Honour at the Kennington Oval. I have attached a poster with details, which I hope you can put up and even encourage your children to try out cricket this summer.

We are building our coaching capacity with the aim of being able to provide after school cricket throughout every summer term for all primary age children. If you know of any parent, teacher, older sibling etc who may be interested in becoming a volunteer coach, please ask them to get in touch. I am happy to come to your school to discuss how to promote cricket in the community.

Best wishes
